I decided to do my Christmas decorating early

I also have done all my Christmas shopping and will wrap this weekend. Kristi did a lot of the decorating for me and I will first post the pictures that she did. She did a great job, and I pass the crown on to her.
She did other decorating but the light wasn't good and I couldn't get good pictures. But will share them in a later blog. Isn't she amazing? This is the decorating I did. I did the dolls and some small trees. I did the dining nook, and the hall bathroom. And I added some Christmas birds to my bird table.I also did the snow people.

Bird plates on my mind

I saw these online at Pier 1 and decided to order them for dessert plates. I thought I would like the green as well but after getting them at home decided that I like the red better. So will return the green and get more red ones. What do you think?

I purchased my new sofa a couple weeks ago

This is the sofa I purchased for my great room. Two new chairs to follow in a couple months. It is the exact style of the sofa but the colors are a little off. I went online to a Broyhill store site and chose the fabrics the best I could remember. The pillows are correct but the sofa may be off a shade or two. The sofa is more comfortable than it looks and the dogs won't be able to sit on top of it or they will slide off it. Score one for me.

My life is a dog's world and I want out.

I am trying a way to figure out how to keep them off the furniture and George's solution was to purchase new dog beds. He was so happy when he walked in with two new dog beds from the grocery store. They were to be for the smaller dogs. His thought was to put them on the furniture and gradually we would put them on the floor. Uhhh no, I said, that would be a big no. I want them off the furniture.
But he felt his plan was a sound one. So for two days the beds sat on two chairs with the small dogs ignoring them and Daisy happily sitting in them, her body overflowing the bed with most of her body taking up the room on the chair defeating the reason for the beds. So I put the beds on the floor which is where they needed to be, not on the furniture. This is what I woke up to.

And thanks Latte and Mocha.............so you didn't like the bed.

I found my "wife" cave

Seasons for All at Home: Decorating a Cottage in Pink and Green

It will take me a few months to try to duplicate it, but I will do my best. It will also be a no dog zone. Love it!

Speaking of cake domes

I found this one at Touchstone catalog online. I ordered it on the 23rd and it came today. It is very cute and very unique. It was on sale and came to $38,50 before taxes and shipping.

Here it is sitting on my counter.

I am liking this sofa set

because the top of the chair and sofa is not enough room for the dogs to sit on. I also like the color.

This is the chair I would get to go with the set. I just love the chair.

This is on my list as well. I kind of like it but I am not totally in love with it. But I could be persuaded.

This is the one that George liked.

I like the sofa to be a solid color.

Looking for new furniture

I hate sets, that saying, I'm tired and I like a few sets from Broyhill. this is one of them. What do you think?

This chair coordinates with the set and at first it kind of scared me. You know a grandma kind of chair, but I think I think it is kind of growing on me. What do you think?

Look what I found

It comes with a glass bowl so that you can put all kinds of goodies inside it. It is $41.95 and would make a perfect birthday or Christmas gift for someone don't you think, as I am shamelessly hinting. Perfect for someone who is into all things bird don't you think?

Don't you just love these?

The last one I can afford $65.00, the top one is $440.00 (my favorite) and the second one $299.00 are only in my dreams. They are all available at Horchow.

Talk me out of this rug

I am getting a new rug for the great room. I fell in love with this one. I just love it and all the colors work with the colors I have in my room. But I am worried that the black might make the room darker. I need help. I am ordering the runner before I consider ordering the size I want. But I want this rug badly. The picture is an oval but I am getting the rectangle one 7' by 10'/9"

I love all things bird

I am collecting birds, and have started a white bird collection on my table under the window next to my fireplace. Next to them I havce a green bird and vase and under them I have my green runner which matches my green slip cover on my couch. Every other week I change the slip cover to red and the runner to red and change the vase to red and the bird to red. I am so anal it isn't funny. But I love doing it.
I am now on the look out for pillows that have green and white birds on it and pillows with red and white birds to go with this display. How anal is that?

Here is my white and green display. Next week will be my red and white display.

My home

Do you have a spot in your home that your friends or company gravitate towards. This is the spot in my great room.

I suspect it is because of the view from the window that they see before they sit, especially if the blinds are up.

We started off with a sunny day in California but ended up with a hail storm

All these pictures were taken through the window and as you can see the yard is still a work in progress but I wanted you to get an idea of how much hail was still on the ground after 10 minutes of me cleaning up after falling down, slipping on the hail before I hit the gate. That is what I get for wearing my cute new 3" wedge floral slide shoes on a seemingly spring day out to breakfast and to grocery shop. The song "I am so vain" comes to mind. Or is that the name of a song? Oh well, senior moment there.

My plans for today

My life is not always a fun fest. But I do have good friends and we get together as frequently as we can. I treated myself to a manicure and a pedicure yesterday. I have already been up for a couple hours. I had my kcup french toast coffee with a brownie. Ohh, did I say that. I meant to say a low fat energy bar, yeah that's the ticket. Really.

My daughter came over last night with her family and my SIL helped me with some outdoor chores. My daughter helped me organize my Marie Osmond dolls that I am going to sell at a local consignment store. I want to get a new rug for the great room.

I fixed a pot roast with roasted potatoes and carrots, and all the fixings. I was tired when they left so I just finished doing the dishes from last night. I know too much boring information.

But since I got my nails and pedicure done yesterday morning I am off to a luncheon today and even though it is a little on the cooler side I am wearing my animal print toe slide shoes and my brown capri pants with my animal print tshirt with a little tiny bit of sparkle. I am shameless with my bling sometimes. My outfit is completed with this purse. I don't want to overdo it with the animal print theme.

Jury Duty

I spent yesterday morning waiting to see if I had to report to jury duty. I called at noon and found out I had to report at 1:15. I got my dogs in the garage with access to the yard, grabbed my bottle of water and my nook and headed to Modesto which is about 35 miles away from my small town.
I have to drive about 30 of those miles on country roads before I get to a freeway and most of those roads had detours and by the time I got to the jury parking lot it was full and I had to find a spot to park which I had to find money to feed the meter. I hurried into the basement after going through security and the jury room was locked. I was 10 minutes late and I had to report to the jury office.
I found out that the computer had already sent me a "failure to report" warrant and that following it would be another jury summons. I was stunned and a little shocked. I always have reported to jury duty when I had been called. I felt like I had broken a law or something. I have to admit I broke down and cried a bit. By the time I got back to the car I was okay and decided to go with the flow. This was my first "warrant" so to speak, and I wasn't going to jail or anything. So I decided to go to TJ's and this is my haul.

I felt better when I got home.
Being 64 isn't so bad after all.
